The ‘wing’ shapes in The Maple-leaf - type 1 resemble the indented form of the maple-leaf and at the same time, it sheds light in much the same way as the maple tree sheds light in downward shafts. The patterning cast on the surrounding walls is softened by the ‘wings’.

This design reflects the Scandinavian aesthetic by its simple form and it’s retro-vibe relative to mid-twentieth century design.
